Gap is collaborating with Los Angeles-based brand Cult Gaia to launch a collection of women’s and children’s clothing on October 10th. The 35-piece holiday collection features a range of statement pieces that combine Gap’s most popular essentials with Cult Gaia’s modern sculptural influences, celebrating the beauty and strength of women and their original style.
Cult Gaia is known for its heirlooms designed to last a lifetime; works of art that are functional enough for everyday use. Founded in 2012 and designed by Jasmine Larian Hekmat, the brand brings a nuanced, nature- and women-inspired design approach to Gap’s traditional icons, designed to stand out and grab attention.
“This collection with Cult Gaia is a beautiful reimagining of Gap’s icons with a partner who shares our attention to product detail,” said Mark Breitbard, president and CEO of the Gap brand. “Each piece is thoughtfully designed with a focus on craftsmanship, hardware and stitching. We deliver high-quality designs and fresh fits that customers will treasure forever.”
The Gap à Cult Gaia collection features a range of holiday-ready styles that inspire inner confidence and individuality. From elegant outerwear to mini slip dresses, the collection features classic designs in the finest, most luxurious fabrics with modern touches like chain-link details and gold hardware. Highlighted pieces include a denim bustier ($88), matching leather pants ($498) and jacket ($498), a backless classic shirt ($88), and a vegan fur coat ($328). Gap commemorates the two brands with a baseball cap ($35) and cropped logo sweatshirt ($78) that spell out “GAIA” in its signature arched logo font. The accompanying campaign, photographed and directed by sisters Louise and Maria Thornfeldt, stars model and actress Tina Kunakey, as well as Christina Byerly, Kelly Lim, Eileen Law and Kristen Ruhl. The campaign pays tribute to the beauty of femininity and the modern-day goddess for whom Cult Gaia is named.
“Reimagining Gap’s classic icons through the lens of Cult Gaia has been an incredible journey. This collaboration combines Gap’s classic and everyday practicality with Cult Gaia’s sculptural and artistic approach, uniting our two distinct creative forces,” said Jasmine Larian Hekmat, founder and designer of Cult Gaia. “Each piece in this collection is carefully designed to inspire creativity and combine art and function in a unique and timeless way.”
